    House Volunteers

This is where you can see the open slots for the House volunteer opportunities and get a clear outline of all the responsibilities for each position. (The House deals with the services that the audience needs in order to enjoy the theater: ushering patrons, concessions, etc.)

First there is a time dimension of when we need people.

    • Advance Party (not day of performance)
This happens both days & weeks before, depending on when we get programs, and lollipops
      • Day before for flowers
Stuff Programs, Create Lollipop Bouquets, Create Flower Bouquets, Pre-orders
    • Set Up Crew 1 and 1/2 hours before performance
Set up tables, stuff brochures, create some bouquets, put out food, novelties, sell tickets
    • During Performance  most people may also see the performance, except for the last few minutes of act one and act two (since there are two intermissions.) One person from each group needs to stay outside during each performance though. This can rotate.

Then there are the actual positions:

    • Sell tickets
      • We are looking for 3 volunteers for each performance to assist with selling tickets & to work at will call (pre-sold tickets).  Ticket volunteers will be asked to be at the box office 1 hour prior to performance when the box office opens.  Some volunteers might be asked to stay 10 minutes or so after the show begins for late arrivals
    • Ushers  (wear white tops with black bottoms) -- 1/2 hour before performance for some
      • Duties include: stuff program guides, keep people out until show time, keep all food out, give out programs, guide people to seats, open doors for actors, help handicapped, have emergency forms, pick up trash (left programs, etc.) after performance
    • Sell Food  & Drink
      • Basic Math Skills (everything $1 or increments of $1 4 for $1)
    • Sell Novelties  (pirate hats, lightups, etc.)

I need to know whether you can do:

    • Set Up (1 1/2 to 1 hour before performance)
    • During Performance (and whether you have to be able to see that show except the last 5 minutes of the last acts (there are two intermissions) -- remember I need one person willing to stay out front from each speciality, especially the first weekend)
    • And your preference for:
      • usher, novelties, food, flowers & grams (or if you have a child, runner)
      • (I will make every attempt to meet your preference, but all stations need to be manned)

I've had a great response from flowers... Harmoni and Marion are helping me design the bouquets, but we need people to help build them for the pre-orders!

    Shoes

Pam Lemieux is in charge of costumes. Shoes and socks are cast responsibility and it is early enough so all should have plenty of time to get shoes.  Pam needs to visually see your shoes.  Pam will be at rehearsals:

Sunday September 18 and Sunday September 26

She will let you know what other times she will be available at rehearsals.

There will be separate posts for Indian shoes, Lost Boys, and Pirate shoes so people can post where they have found shoes in the comments so people can share information that is pertinent to them.

    • Indian Shoes click here.
    • Lost Boys click here.
    • Pirate Shoes click here.
    • Wendy  natural ballet slippers, no socks
    • John  slippers......brown leather look
    • Michael   no shoes
    • Liza.........ankle boot shoes.........like before

    Indian Shoes

Indians and Tiger Lily need moccasins. Brown would be nice, but as long as they are not fluorescent colors, any color will do.

For moccasins.........try Walmart, Target, Kmart.....call them before you go so you don't run around.  I called my Walmart here and they said moccasin stock will be in soon, but that is in my area........youstore might already have stock.  If we know early enough and there are enough people maybe we can coordinate a big buy from web site or phone sale place.  Please talk to me at rehearsal if you are having difficulty locating.   Please don't wait until week of show to start looking.  I can't help you then.
    Updates:
    • A few pairs found at Target, Pam needs to check if they are OK.
    • Ebay is a possibility.
    • Someone typed in moccasins into Google and ordered from the first company that came up, they should be here next week to see how suitable they are.

    Lost Boy Shoes

Lost boys need ankle height boots (like we have used in Oliver, Fiddler.........) brown or black.  MLT has some from other shows which can be borrowed. No sneakers or hiking boots   Again, this story is being done in kinda a "Oliver" time period. If we look now we will be able to get everyone shod correctly.

    Sock information will be coming.

    Pirate Shoes

Pirates should have tie shoes, ankle boots, knee boots. No heels and nothing shiney.

    Sock information will be coming.

    Props Updated

    Hi production team!

I'm just sending out a list to you all to let you know
what props I am still looking for/planning to build or
buy. If you have any of these items or know where I
can find them, just let me know.

    Act I:
    3 pillows/sheet sets/quilts for nursery
    a couple table lamps

    bath towels

    Act II:
    bows and arrows
    litter

    feather duster
Wendy's house (planning to make, could use a large
    (green) golf umbrella)
    portable bushes
    poison cake
musical instruments (I need to ask Henry what he'd
    still like)
    silver mylar confetti
    corn cob bubble pipe
    tricycle (blue)
    newspaper (green)
    dust pan
    slippers

As you can see, Act II is where I need the most props
still. I've had quite a few parents volunteer some
items, I've found a few props at the swap shed in
Marblehead, and Lori has been great in letting me know
what we already have in storage. Plus I plan on
joining the trip to Revels next Tuesday to see what we
    can find there.

Thanks for your help and advice!
    Arian

    ------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi parents and cast of Peter Pan!

My name is Arian Armstrong.  I am new to New England
and the Marblehead Little Theater so I am really
looking forward to being the prop designer for this
fall's musical. I'm sure it's going to be a great
    show.

I've got a long list of props to find, make, or buy
and could really use your help.  I will be sending
short lists out periodically over the next month or
so.  If you have anything from the lists at your home
that you'd be willing to part with for a few weeks,
    please let me know.

To start, here are a list of toys I am looking for.
And since this is a period show we aren't looking for
anything too modern looking (i.e. no Buzz Lightyear
    dolls or batman toys).......

    Peter Pan Props

    Toys:

    • toy sail boat
    • blocks
    • ceramic dogs
    • dolls (nothing too modern looking)
    • toy bow and arrows
    • bubble pipe
    • toy daggars
    • tricycle (blue)
    • hockey stick
    • Indian peace pipe
    • toy drum
    • toy dog
    • toy panda
    • toy guns/rifles
    • boxing gloves

If you have any of these items and would let us use
them in the show, please let me know by clicking this link.  We will do our
best to take care of them and return them to you at
    the end of the run.

    Thanks!
    Arian Armstrong

Updated Crew, Costumes & Child Management Volunteers

This page talks about what is needed backstage in order to have a successful production. Listed are a number of positions. Some are needed during performances, and some are needed before the performances start and after they end. All volunteers for these positions go through Lori Lord.

Set Construction: We're looking for many adults to help unload as well as construct the professional set we have rented for Peter Pan.  The set is very large & will be in many pieces.  Set load in will be at the Marblehead Veteran's Middle School Performing Arts Center, Saturday October 22, 11am-5pm. Once the set is unloaded, set construction will begin.  Sunday October 23, will be all day set construction, 11am-5pm.

Fly Crew:  we're looking for 4 adults.  These people must be committed to all of tech week, all performances and any pick-up rehearsals.  These people can not switch off during performances since they are being trained by a professional.  Fly crew people will be flying cast members during the show. Dress code - all black.

Set Crew: we're looking for at least 12 people.  Set crew people must be in high school.  We'd prefer that set crew people be there for all of tech week, during all performances and any pick-up rehearsals.  Set crew people will be setting up scenery & moving scenery during the show.
    Dress code - all black.

Child Management: We're looking for 3 people to be available during tech week, all performances & any pick-up rehearsals.  These people will help manage the children cast members backstage.  This will require, making sure the children stay in their designated area & are not roaming around.  As well as helping to keep the children entertained.  Typically children will bring games and books.  Sometimes there is a tv & vcr available for them to watch movies. You will also assist the children on making their cues to the stage & returning them to the designated area once they are done on stage.  Please note that child management volunteers are needed when the children have their call, call is 2 hours prior to the performance time.

Strike: We're looking for many adults to help with strike.  This is the day that the show ends & we will have to take apart all of the set & load it back into the truck to be returned.  As well as removing everything that we have brought into the Performing Arts Center including furniture, props, costumes etc.  Most of these items will need to be returned to the MLT Firehouse.  We will also need the volunteers to help take these items to the Firehouse.

Props:  We are looking for a few volunteers to assist our props designer in making & locating props needed for the show.

Costumes:  We are looking for volunteers to assist with the construction of costumes..sewing, gluing etc.  Costume help might also be needed during the performances to assist with any repairs that might need to be done.

Cast Party: We are looking for a cast party chief to help coordinate, place, decorations, food, etc., and help manage the list of volunteers. We are looking for volunteers to help decorate, put  out food, clean up, etc.

    Oklahoma Volunteers

This is where you can see the open slots for the House volunteer opportunities and get a clear outline of all the responsibilities for each position. (The House deals with the services that the audience needs in order to enjoy the theater: ushering patrons, concessions, etc.).)

    • Ushers  (wear white tops with black bottoms) -- 1 hour before performance for some
      • Duties include: stuff program guides, keep people out until show time, keep all food out, give out programs, guide people to seats, open doors for actors, help handicapped, have emergency forms, pick up trash (left programs, etc.) after performance
    • Sell Food  & Drink
      • Basic Math Skills (everything $1 or increments of $1 4 for $1)
    • Sell Novelties  (rose crowns, lightups, etc.)
      • More Advanced $1, $2, $3, $5 increments
    • Sell Flowers and Lollipop Bouquets & Grams*
      • More Advanced $1, $2, $3, $5, $7, $10, $20 increments plus preorders
